About

Alex Hutchinson (@sweatscience) is a journalist who writes about the science of endurance sport. He is a columnist for Runner's World and writes the magazine's Sweat Science blog, and also contributes to Outside, the New York Times, the New Yorker, and numerous other publications. As a distance runner, he represented Canada in track, road, and cross-country competitions around the world. Before becoming a journalist, Hutchinson received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Cambridge and pursued post-doctoral research with the U.S. National Security Agency. His most recent book is Which Comes First, Cardio or Weights?: Fitness Myths, Training Truths, and Other Surprising Discoveries from the Science of Exercise. He lives in Toronto. back to top
