'I aim to enter the events and hospitality sector upon my graduation, and have found my work placement at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge invaluable in encouraging me to continue to work towards this goal. My role was very practical and I completed tasks such as; researching potential clients, creating a menu selector for the New Years Eve Gala night and taking calls from potential clients to discuss their individual requirements for a conference or party night. I was also fortunate to shadow a Co-ordinator on a Wedding Reception at the Lodge where we completed all final checks, greeted guests and even built their wedding cake out of doughnuts!
I have learnt how to use computer programmes and booking systems used exclusively by the events industry which will be favourable to potential employers. Despite being in an office, I also had plenty of scope to develop my skills in customer service, communication and teamwork. Leaving my placement, I am extremely thankful to the team at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge for giving me the confidence to take part in a professional environment. I have further found that prospective employers are interested in my time on the placement and it has given me an edge when applying for further work placements. '

Canterbury Cathedral Lodge provided a work experience placements within the Events department, focusing on organising events and help running conferences.
The lodge was offered a free one night's stay for the Rewards Ceremony and two 3-week work experience placements focusing in the Events department, organising and helping with the running of conferences; also providing some experience within the Sales department.
The lodge offered 2 work experience placements as rewards. One of the placements was in the events department, and the second was a placement concerning front of house and the operations department.
