Fundraising from individuals, corporations, trusts and foundations for University initiatives is led by the Philanthropy & Supporter Engagement team, with key assistance from the Head of Strategic Relationships and the Director of Development.
Support from the University's alumni and friends enables us to provide a range of scholarships to our students, invest in research excellence and provide world-class facilities. Giving to the University, for example the Kent Opportunity Fund, provides financial assistance for students suffering hardship, for student-led projects and for a variety of scholarships and bursaries. Notable facilities that have been made possible by donations have been the Wigoder Law Building in 2017 for the award winning Kent Law Clinic as well as the Colyer–Fergusson Building in 2012.
The founders of the University of Kent were committed to the principle of equal opportunites for all students. We are proud to continue that tradition, ensuring that our students have the chance to excel academically, personally and professionally, regardless of financial circumstances. The University recognises that we are the custodians of talent, whether it is academic, sporting, or musical, and believes that each student deserves the opportunity.
The University of Kent is an exempt charity pursuant to Schedule 2 of the Charities Act.
