Centre for Professional Practice
The Centre for Professional Practice offers part-time academic work-related programmes for Postgraduate and Undergraduate students. The Centre is founded on the belief that employers can benefit from the University of Kent’s academic and research excellence, quality teaching and design and development activities to create positive change and to forge new knowledge within their organisations.
The Centre recognises and understands the individual needs of working professionals, who participate as non-traditional part-time learners, and the balance required between study and the specific areas within which they operate. Our programmes of study provide inclusive and coherent educational and work-related opportunities. Taught sessions are delivered in a welcoming, supportive and flexible academic environment, by an academic team with extensive professional practitioner experience.
We work with a wide range of partners and employers to create distinct and original work-based and work-related developmental and educational solutions, which respond to the unique challenges experienced by employees and organisations across the region and beyond.

What our students say about us
1. Clare Fuller, MSc Advanced and Specialist Healthcare
I wanted to let you know that I will be starting a new job soon and would like to think that gaining the MSc helped me to achieve this. I will start a national role working in hospitals across England for the Gold Standards Framework, hopefully now have a larger voice in the direction of End of Life Care.
Completing the MSc has proved hugely valuable, helping me with the development of audit and research in my previous role, and giving me a credibility and confidence for use of evidence based practice. I won second prize in the hugely terrifying audit competition last year too!!
Thank you again for the incredible support and encouragement you gave me, and for helping me aim high.
Jane Howard, MSc Professional Practice, Chief Executive Officer, Medway Voluntary Action
I joined this programme to consolidate my experience, take a view of my own practice and employment sector through a theoretical/academic lens and also to obtain a higher degree; something I had wanted to do for many years. The Professional Practice MSc is an excellent opportunity to meet all of these requirements.
Prof Mike Mulcahy, MSc Advanced and Specialist Healthcare (Applied Dental Professional Practice), Course Director of several academic programmes
Despite having a number of other qualifications, a Masters degree was missing from my CV. Using Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning, this course gave me the opportunity to undertake valid study and research appropriate to my workplace setting.
CPP offered the right amount of flexibility (with modules running over a weekend) and the chance to meet students from other professions.
Emma Crouch, MSc Professional Practice (Teaching and Learning), Teacher at Brompton Academy
The Masters in Professional Practice (Teaching and Learning) was particularly valuable as it could be structured around my own research and areas of interest within teaching.
