This is a top-up degree course for students who have completed the HND Applied Animal Science or equivalent award. This course will give you a comprehensive understanding of the biology of animals and the conservation of wildlife.

Overview

On this programme you have access to well-equipped laboratories and an animal centre. You will have as much practical involvement with animals as possible and a number of trips and activities are organised each year.

Entry requirements

The University will consider applications from students offering a wide range of qualifications. All applications are assessed on an individual basis but some of our typical requirements are listed below.     Pass all components of the University of Kent International Foundation Programme with a 60% overall average.

  • medal-empty T level

    The University will consider applicants holding T level qualifications in subjects closely aligned to the course.

You will need at least a Merit grade at HND in Applied Animal Science or other relevant discipline or a Foundation Degree with a value of 240 credits.

International students cannot be admitted to this programme at this time due to visa restrictions.

Course structure

Duration: 1 year full-time

The seven modules studied will be selected from:

  • Conservation & Wildlife Heritage
  • Animal Adaptations
  • Clinical Animal Behaviour
  • Pathology & Immunology
  • Anthrozoology
  • Conservation Research Project

Teaching and assessment

Assessment is by coursework projects, essays, presentations and examinations.

Delivery is through lectures, seminars and tutorials, normally over three days a week.
