Foundation programmes

Foundation programmes

A foundation programme may be suitable if you:

  • do not yet have the qualifications needed take the degree of your choice.
  • need to improve your English language ability in order to study a degree at Kent.

All foundation year courses are taught on the Canterbury campus.

International Foundation Programme

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) facilitates degree-level entry into almost all of our undergraduate programmes for international students whose school leaving qualifications are insufficient for direct entry and/or whose English language standard is below the necessary level. It gives you a year's preparation in academic subjects, study skills and English language. Progression to the degree programme will depend on achieving specific grades in the IFP. Find out more.

Degrees with a Foundation Year

Subject-specific degrees with a foundation year are open to candidates with acceptable English language qualifications, but with either A level equivalent qualifications below the grades required for first-year entry to a degree or national school-leaving qualifications that are at a level below A level.
