Canterbury testing

Find out about asymptomatic testing on Canterbury campus, including booking a test, what happens on the day and afterwards.

Returning from overseas

The Government has introduced new regulations concerning travelling to England from a foreign country which come into force from 15 February 2021.

If you are returning from another country you must:

  • Have proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken in the 3 days before departure
  • Quarantine for 10 days on arrival
  • Be tested for Covid-19 on day 2 and day 8 of their quarantine period - please note you must be tested through a private provider, these tests are not available on campus
  • Follow the national lockdown rules.

Regular asymptomatic testing

As long as you are symptom-free, please get tested regularly - you should be tested twice a week if you are living or working on campus or just visiting for essential use of the Library or other facilities.

Book now for Canterbury campus

For students and staff at the Canterbury campus who would like to be tested for Covid-19, the University has set up an Asymptomatic Testing Site (ATS) based in the Sports Centre. You can book an appointment at the Canterbury campus now.

If you do not live within walking distance of the Canterbury campus, you can book an appointment at your local community testing site.

(Please see separate arrangements for Medway students and staff).

Students returning to campus

Students returning to their term-time address (on exempt courses or for exceptional circumstances) should get tested before attending classes or any university facilities.

Lateral Flow antigen test

The ATS provides a Lateral Flow antigen test. The self-administered test is free of charge, and quick and easy to do. You will need to take two tests ideally three to five days apart and your results will be uploaded to NHS Test & Trace within 30-60 minutes. Results should be available to you shortly afterwards (but could take up to three hours during peak times).
