Requirements on obtaining visa letters for your Congregations ceremony
Deadline: Friday 7 June by 17.00 BST
Visa letter applications cannot be processed or issued until you have been invited to your graduation ceremony
Do not apply for a visa letter before this time - requests made before invitations are sent will be deleted.
In order to attend the ceremony some students or their guests may require confirmation of their graduation invitation obtain either:
- Exit clearance from their home country
- Entry clearance to the UK
This visa letter will be produced by the Corporate Events team and will only confirm the invitation of a student to a Congregations ceremony for the purpose of supporting an application for a visitor visa. Please note that this should not be confused with tier 4 visa letters that Central Student Administration and Admissions issue to students to secure long-term student visas.
- No requests for a Congregations visa letter can be accepted until students are allocated to ceremonies
- Students will be required to complete a request form
- Visa letters will be issued to students at the University's discretion.
If you wish to apply for a visa letter you can download an application form and return this to us via email - you must return this to us at least 6 weeks before your ceremony. They must either be collected from the Corporate Events Office by the student or sent to the address provided on the application form.
Applications can take up to six weeks for processing so please ensure you apply in good time. If you are concerned about the time frame, please contact the Corporate Events team.
