Robin Hu read mathematics at the University of Kent where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in 1980. He is currently the CEO at the South China Morning Post Group.
Robin Hu was born in Taiwan. His family moved to Singapore when he was 12 years old and growing up in Singapore, he attended Hwa Chong Institution and National Junior College.
After graduating from Kent he obtained his MSc in Computer Science from the University of Wales. He held various management positions with the Economic Development Board of Singapore, Singapore Telecom and internet start-up Asiacontent.com. Between 1998 and 1999, he served as Counsellor (Industry and Investment) at the Singapore Embassy in Beijing. Robin Hu was Senior Executive Vice President with the Singapore Press Holdings. He is now the CEO of the South China Morning Post Group where he has directed the transformation of Asia's most admired English language newspaper into a digital media brand.
Robin Hu is active in public service. He has served as Chairman of Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Chairman of Singapore Centre for Chinese Language, was a board member of the Singapore Civil Service College and Singapore Health Promotion Board. He is passionate about education and served as a board governor to Hwa Chong Institution and Raffles Junior College in Singapore. He is currently a member of the Board of Governors to the Singapore International School in Hong Kong.
