John Reilly MBE
Doctor of Civil Law
John Reilly studied at the universities of Edinburgh, Oxford and London (School of Oriental and African Studies), before working in Uganda. On returning to the UK, he took up a career in university administration at Kent, while continuing to teach East African political history at Kent and the Open University. For 22 years he was Academic Registrar at Kent, combining the role with that of Director of the UK Erasmus Office. His passion for European integration led him to focus his drive and determination to influence the UK's policies towards mobility of students and staff.
In 2002 he received the MBE for services to higher education and the Erasmus programme. In 2004 he was appointed Officier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques for services to French culture and higher education. He is currently responsible for the UK Tempus Information Office, developing contacts in the EU partner states and the former Soviet Union.back to top
