I have a question...

Can I still book a residential package if there are more or less than 4 of us in my family booking?
Yes, families of 3 or 4 members will be charged the rates as shown above, and you can add additional family members at the time of booking for an additional £75pp.

To book a residential package, family bookings must have a minimum of 3 members up to a maximum of 6. For bookings of 4 or less people, at least one of your party must be a child (under 16). For bookings of 5 or 6 at least 2 members of your party should be children (under 16).

Is food included in the packages?
Your residential package includes one meal per person at the family BBQ taking place during your break. Otherwise your accommodation is self-catered to provide you greater flexibility.

However, you can purchase food on a pay as you go basis from our restaurant Dolche Vita or The Street Kitchen. We also have a Co-Op local on campus so you can purchase any essentials.

No meals are included in the non-residential package although Dolche Vita and The Street Kitchen will be open serving food.

When is Dolche Vita and The Street Kitchen open for food?
Dolche Vita will be open for breakfast and dinner whilst The Street Kitchen will be open for breakfast and lunch. Specific opening times for our catering outlets will be available in June.

Where can I park my car?
As a guest you are entitled to free parking on campus, just collect your parking permit from reception when arriving. Parking is located directly outside Park Wood Flats and throughout the wider campus too.

Can I arrive via public transport?
Our campus is only a 20 minute walk to Canterbury city centre, but our campus is also well connected via public transport. We have a regular bus service running to and from Canterbury City centre as well as a National Express stop. In Canterbury, there are two high-speed train stations going to London.

Are the Gulbenkian film nights included in my package? What's showing?
Cinema screenings are not included in any of the packages available however residential guests will receive an exclusive 50% discount code which can be used throughout your holiday meaning tickets cost as little as £5.

Film listings will be available online from July which you will then also be able book via the Gulbenkian's website.

Can I extend my stay? What else is going on?
We think Kent is the perfect family staycation destination and would love for you to enjoy our beautiful county so you can extend your stay with us subject to availability.

Taking place at the end of both residential breaks we have some wonderful extra-special activities you may want to attend including the Pilgrims Hospice Cycle Challenge on Sunday 22 August and the international bOing! family festival on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August.

When booking your residential package you will be able to add on additional nights at a self-catered or B&B rate and extend your stay in your Park Wood Flat rooms. You can also stay in our family-friendly accommodation throughout the summer.

Can I take part in the activities without booking a residential package?
Yes, for locals we have a non-residential activity programme available which allows you to book onto the activities taking place from Thursday 19 - Friday 27 August from £167 per person.

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, you will need to book any packages in advance of arrival as once your booking is confirmed you will also need to book the included activity sessions you and any member of your family wish to attend. This is to allow us to monitor anticipated session attendance to allow for safety measures such as social distancing.

Is there a maximum or minimum amount of activity sessions I can book?
No, the number of sessions you choose to book is up to you, just remember that all sessions must be booked in advance and there are a set number of spaces for each session meaning they are all subject to availability.

How can I pay on campus?
We are a cashless campus, meaning you will need to pay via debit or credit card for items purchased on campus.

What measures do you have in place in response to Coronavirus?
We have taken a number of additional steps to make our students, staff and guests as safe as possible on campus. As a visiting guest, your safety is our top concern and you can read about our additional safety measures online.

What is your cancellation policy?
We want you to be confident when you place your booking with us and have a clear cancellation policy meaning:

  • Any bookings cancelled up to 4 weeks before your arrival will be 100% refunded
  • Any bookings cancelled between 4 and 2 weeks before your arrival will be 50% refunded
  • Any bookings cancelled less than 2 weeks before your arrival will not be refunded.

Our COVID promise policy also means that if within 2 weeks of your arrival date your family cannot travel due to COVID illness or restrictions we will offer a full refund. Our promise will apply in the event of:

  • A national or local lockdown (in your area or the University of Kent's) that prevents travel
  • Self-isolation, as dictated by government guidance, where you or a member of your family is symptomatic, is diagnosed, or if you are required to isolate by track and trace. (We will require at least one form of proof, either the instruction to self-isolate on your NHS Covid-19 app, a doctors letter or a positive COVID test result).

I have another question. Who can I ask?
If you have a question not answered here please email us.
