What we do
Our role is to ensure that staff across the University are informed about strategic developments, change and success, as well as being kept in touch with good and bad news.
Responsibility for staff communications is a shared one. Corporate Communications works alongside Human Resources, the Executive Group and Central Secretariat, as well as deans, directors, heads of school and administrators, in disseminating information and obtaining useful feedback from staff.
Corporate Communications has specific responsibility for KENT Staff online e-newsletter, editorial control of Campus Online – the staff portal – and the contents of the University’s Events Calendar. We also manage @UniKentStaff on Twitter and all-staff emails for both Canterbury and Medway campuses.
How we can help
If you have any staff-related news or events in your department, we are happy to help you share it with colleagues across the University. Please send us your story and, depending on content, we will publish it via one or more of our communication channels.
Kent Life features
A new series of online features on staff across the University – who they are and what they’re up to.
We plan to publish three or four new features each month – if you have a suggestion on individuals/teams who should be featured, we’d love to hear from you.
Get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
KENT Staff online e-newsletter
The University’s regular e-newsletter briefing for staff at Kent. The e-newsletter, circulated every other Monday lunchtime, features highlights from Campus Online stories.
Campus Online – staff portal
The University’s staff portal, including latest campus updates, stories about people we work with and upcoming events. Contributions from all staff are welcomed!
We can email staff across the University, providing your communication meets the following criteria:
- Essential to the on-going business processes of the University
- Emergency situation
- As instructed by members of the Executive Group
- The information cannot be distributed any other way within the desired timescale.
Requests for emails to be distributed should be sent to email@example.com.
Corporate Communications is primarily responsible for the University’s Twitter, Flickr and You Tube accounts, as well as the student social media channels. For staff, we have a dedicated channel on Twitter - @UniKentStaff.
When you submit a story to us, we decide which of the University’s social media channels are most appropriate.
