Who is eligible?
If you don't get the exam grades you hoped for and your place is not confirmed, you can apply for a different course through Clearing. The Clearing process runs from early July. If you don't have a confirmed place, or are applying late, this is your chance to find a course with places still available. Applicants become eligible for Clearing at different times, and is available to you if you:
- apply after 30 June 2019
- haven't received any offers
- declined any offers you have received.
You may also be eligible to apply through Clearing if you:
- are not holding any offers from universities or colleges
- did not receive any confirmed offers once your exam results were announced
- have declined, or not responded to, a changed course, a changed date of entry or a changed point of entry offer
- have applied too late for your application to be considered before Clearing.
5 July: Clearing opens, and vacancies are shown in the UCAS search tool.
15 August: A level results day / Adjustment opens.
20 September (18:00 UK time): Final deadline for applications to courses starting in 2019.
The Clearing period
When you become eligible for Clearing, UCAS will automatically update your UCAS Track page so that you can submit a Clearing choice application.
You are strongly advised to contact the University offering the Clearing vacancy before submitting a Clearing course choice via UCAS track.
If you have not applied via UCAS during this admissions cycle then please apply directly to the University.

Information for CURRENT applicants to Kent
What if I meet the conditions of my offer?
If you successfully meet the conditions of our offer there is no need to contact the University. We cannot communicate individual examination results to candidates over the telephone. Please contact your school/examination centre for advice on how you can find out results.
If you are taking qualifications other than A levels (eg Access courses, IBs, BTECs or VDAs) please make sure that the University receives copies of your results as soon as you know them so that we can make a decision on your application.
Under UCAS rules any conditional offers made by the University must be confirmed by 31 August 2019. If your results are not received by this deadline your offer will lapse, therefore if you have a problem confirming your results by this deadline you must contact the University immediately for further advice.
Once we have your results and you have met the conditions of your offer your place is confirmed automatically. You will be emailed joining instructions and getting started information. Please read the information carefully and follow the instructions for completing our online enrolment procedure.
You are advised to look at the Getting Started website.
If you have applied for University accommodation details of your room allocation will follow on in due course, subject to entitlement and availability.
What if I fall short of the conditions of my offer?
Don't panic! We look again at all applicants who have fallen short of their offer. We try and confirm as many places as possible and we will notify you via UCAS. The quickest way to do this is to check your status via the Kent application portal. You then have the opportunity to accept or decline your place if you are offered an alternative course.
If you are holding an insurance offer elsewhere you may want to check with that institution to see if they can confirm your place.
