I am the Co-production Theme Lead for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Kent Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS) and support research conducted through the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Systems and Commissioning (PRUComm)
I am a member of the advisory board for the Research Design Service South East, a panel member for the Research for Patient Benefit funding committee (South East and Central) and have recently been a member of a College of Experts (social care) for the NIHR COVID Recovery and Learning Research programme. I have recently been involved in research about well-being and the social care workforce, exploring priorities for community health services and measuring and enhancing co-production.
Research interests and expertise: I am a mixed methods researcher with significant experience in project management and the co-design and delivery of research. I have particular interests in social and health care service provision, innovation and outcomes. My most recent research has focused on community models of support for older adults and people with intellectual disabilities. I have been principal and co-investigator for a number of projects funded by national bodies and involved in international comparative projects spanning 30 countries.
I joined CHSS in December 2020 after 12 years at the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) at the University of Kent. Before joining the University I held senior research roles within central and local government, the health service and the non-profit sector.
I have an undergraduate degree in applied community studies from Manchester Metropolitan University, MSc in research methods and evaluation from the University of Huddersfield and a PhD in social policy from the University of Kent.
