Research Facilitator

 

 

Rachel took up her role as a Research Facilitator in the Centre for Health Services Studies in February 2020. She spends much of her time working with GP practices in the East Kent area, supporting them to deliver clinical research and embed it into practice. She also assists on a number of research studies that are being led by investigators based within CHSS.

Rachel is a qualified nurse and midwife, with degrees in architecture and midwifery from London University and a Master of Research degree in health and social care from the University of Hull. Prior to commencing at Kent, Rachel worked for nearly four years supporting research in a large NHS mental health trust in Yorkshire. Before this, she worked for over 10 years as a researcher in the private sector, during which time she was involved in a wide range of research and evaluation projects for many public, academic, voluntary and private sector organisations. She has also worked as a research assistant on a number of health-related studies at the University of Hull.

Rachel has extensive experience of qualitative research and has an interest in research involving carers, self-management of long-term conditions and the interface between mental and physical health.
