I am a BPS Chartered Psychologist and Health Psychologist (HCPC Registered), with a background in the adaptation and management of chronic conditions, treatment choices, and health interventions.
I have been an adviser for the Research Design Service South East since Oct 2017 with a focus on patient and public involvement, overseeing the RDS SE Public Involvement Fund.
In addition, I am a Health Psychologist researcher at Kent Community NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT), helping to develop a research culture and supporting clinicians to develop their research ideas. In this role I support and am part of the Palliative Care Research Group.
Background
I completed my BSc (Hons) Psychology at University of Greenwich in 2003, and then went on to gain an MSc in Health Psychology at the University of Kent in 2004 (also Stage 1 for Chartership in Health Psychology). Following on from My MSc, I continued at the University of Kent and in 2011 was awarded a PhD in Health Psychology. During my PhD, I also undertook and passed the BPS independent route for health psychology training (Stage 2) qualifying as a Health Psychologist. As an experienced health researcher, I have used both qualitative and quantitative approaches, across a number of topic areas, such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine (University of Kent), mental health nursing (City University), and stroke (University of Kent). I have significant experience of working with, and for, the NHS. This includes a previous role as a Clinical Trials Officer in stroke (EKHUFT), and as the Research and Innovation Officer for KentHealth (University of Kent).
