September's CHSS public engagement event 'Let's Talk' brought local people out in droves to do just that!  A full report and photos feature in our new CHSS Newsletter.

This issue covers the varied work of CHSS in recent months, including a new Big Lottery funded project, 'Ageless Thanet' which aims to tackle social isolation and help older people enjoy healthier, happier and productive lives.

Professor Jenny Billings is carrying out an evaluation of the Ageless Thanet initiatives, and the story of her personal journey from NHS nurse to Professor of Applied Health Research features on the centre pages.

CHSS Director Stephen Peckham, Professor of Health Policy offers his perspective on the current state of the NHS, and whether media headlines about an NHS 'in crisis' are to be believed.

We welcome several new CHSS staff, including a Clinical Professor. Details on p8 along with upcoming events. And there is plenty of other news including our latest publications.

We do hope you enjoy reading the newsletter. You can subscribe to future issues by post – and our online archive comprises every issue since 2002.
