How You Can Help
Every year we welcome offers from students who would like to act as Volunteer Stewards at the Carol Service. Volunteer Stewards are given duties to perform, such as issuing programmes, checking tickets etc., and are instructed to sit in their designated places at the Carol Service.
We also need about 10-12 people of the following language groups: German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Greek, Shona, Portuguese and Cantonese Chinese to help sing as a group in leading the congregation in singing "Silent Night". Please be aware that due to time restrictions we won't be able to have groups in all the above languages. The decision which groups will sing will be made nearer the time depending on the turnout. Students who have expressed interest in singing but whose language group won't be selected in the end, are most welcome to help as Volunteer Stewards instead.
Volunteer Stewards and singers do not need to queue for tickets, but need to be available for a training session at 5:15pm on Thursday 7th December or at 5:15pm on Friday 8th December. They will also be needed at the Cathedral from 2:30pm-4:30pm on Monday 11th December, and from 6:30pm that evening (i.e. 90 minutes before the service starts).
It is planned to appoint these helpers before the issue of tickets (on 4th/5th December) so they will know that they do not have to queue themselves. Therefore, if you are interested, please e-mail Fr Peter Geldard or Revd Dr Stephen Laird as soon as possible.
