What we offer

Our mission is to offer a range of careers information, advice and guidance services which encompasses all aspects of career development and planning and provides the opportunity for students to realise their vocational potential. Facilities are available to encourage students to analyse their values, interests, skills and abilities, supplemented by information about employment opportunities and further study, enabling them to make rational career decisions.

The Careers and Employability Service is located in the driveway to Keynes College at Canterbury, and in the Gillingham Building at Medway.

We offer the following activities:

  • Specialist Careers and Employability Advisers with responsibility for specific academic schools and their students
  • Drop-ins, for feedback on CVs and quick queries
  • Talks, workshops, Employability Festival and the Careers Fair
  • Postgraduate study advice
  • Resources Room with career information and PCs for job-seeking and applications
  • Advice on placements and work experience
  • KEW-NET, enabling the mentoring of current students by Kent alumni
  • Careers education seminars, tailored to individual academic schools, covering:
    • How to Develop Skills
    • Finding Vacation Work
    • Opportunities Related to your Degree Subject
    • Postgraduate Study
    • Action Planning
    • Applications and Interviews
    • Careers and Employability Service Resources
  • Statistics on the destinations of Kent graduates, both undergraduate and postgraduate, listed by year, faculty and academic school
  • Advertising vacancies to students and graduates
  • Liaising with employers to create placement and work opportunities
