Mike Oliver Exhibition, Canterbury
Disability History Month

Mike Oliver was an British sociologist, author and disability rights activist. An alumni and Professor of the University of Kent, he was well respected as a Champion of the Social Model of Disability. Mike passed away in March 2019, and this exhibition is part of the University of Kent activity for UK Disability History Month 2019, which has a theme of Leadership, Resistance and Culture). The exhibition honours and celebrates his work, showcasing extracts from his work against a backdrop of poetry and cartoons from the 1990's onwards that represent the ongoing struggle for accessibility faced by so many in societyThe launch will take place on the 26th November, 6-8pm in Keynes Teaching Foyer.
