Dramaturgy in Song of the Goat Theatre – a workshop
Performance and Theatre Research Cluster
Tomek Wisniewski (University of Gdansk) and Alicja Bral (PhD candidate)

This is a shared practical session led by Alicja Bral and Tomasz Wiśniewski, based on recent productions by Polish experimental company Song of the Goat Theatre. A brief discussion on the peculiarities of the dramaturgy in their performances such as Island(2016) and Hamlet: A Commentary (2017) will lead to exercises that reveal some of the company's dramaturgical methods that are rooted in the co-ordination technique. The workshop will conclude by focusing specifically on their most recent production, the three parts of Anty-Gone (2018).Alicja Bral is a Doctor of Humanities who specialised in theatre history and graduated in 2010 from the University of Gdańsk, Poland. In 2018 she began her PhD studies at the University of Kent in the School of Arts under the supervision of Professor Paul Allain.  She is researching through Practice Research the dramaturgy inside Song of The Goat Theatre.

Professor Tomasz Wiśniewski is Deputy Director for Research in the Institute of English and American Studies at the University of Gdańsk. He has published Complicite, Theatre and Aesthetics (2016) and The Literary Shape of Beckett's Plays (2006). He is founder of the Between.Pomiędzy Festival and the Beckett Research Group in Gdańsk.
