The Cult of Saints in Late Antiquity

Dr Anna Lampadaridi (Oxford) will give a research paper on The Life of St Porphyry of Gaza: New Perspectives at 5pm in Darwin Seminar room 1 (Darwin College). This important text is critical to discussions on the end of paganism and especially on the fate of temples.

This will be followed by a wine reception in the same place at 6pm.

There will then be a public lecture at 7pm, convened by the Historical Association, given by Professor Bryan Ward-Perkins (Oxford) on The Cult of Saints in Late Antiquity, the title of an ERC research project that he has directed in recent years. This will take place in Darwin Lecture room 1, which is downstairs from the seminar room, on the same entrance stairwell.
