Security: Pro-Active Advance Attack Detection
School of Computing - Security Group Seminar
Speaker: Dr. Fadi El-Moussa, Principal R&D consultant (BT)

Abstract: The talk will cover the current cutting edge research in Security Research Practice in BT around detecting attacks in multiple enlivenments. The talk will describe the security BT Intelligent Protection (BT IP) that offer a set of security capabilities (Firewall, Intrusion Detection, Malware Detection, Log Inspection, Integrity Monitoring, Vulnerability Scanning) and the application of BT IP to different areas such as Cloud where BT IP is integrated with BT Cloud to offer an automatic security provisioning to BT Cloud's customers; for Malware Detection to build an automated attack graph using malware behaviour modelling; for Home Security, to protect next generation IoT devices deployed at home; and for SIEM to detect kill chain in multi-enlivenment. In each of the previous areas, will go through the current challenges and how BT IP address these and which are the next steps in the BT research road map to improve the solution and provide better detection to new threats.
