About

Thomas Chevalier is a doctoral researcher in International Conflict Analysis at the Brussels School of International Studies (BSIS)—University of Kent, where he began his Ph.D. studies in September 2019, and where he is the recipient of a Kent Vice Chancellor’s Research Scholarship.

Thomas is affiliated with the Conflict Analysis Research Centre (CARC) at the University of Kent (School of Politics and International Relations), a multi-disciplinary centre in the study of political and violent conflict. He is also a member of the  European International Studies Association (EISA) and a presenter at the European Workshops in International Studies (EWIS).

In his research, Thomas focuses on the role of imaginaries in France and US space politics. He explores how imaginaries inform state knowledge and militarism, and how they shape states’ technopolitical identities and expectations about world politics’ possible futures. Overall, he aims to capture the interplay between politics, science and technology (S&T), and imagination—and their relationship with state power and war.

Thomas holds a master’s degree in Political Science from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Free University of Brussels, Belgium), a master’s degree in Geopolitics and International Relations from Science Po Toulouse (France), and a master’s degree in Management and Business Administration from NEOMA Business School France. He has prior professional experience as a Sales Executive, Consultant and Key Account Manager in the Information Technology industry, and has worked with clients in the Public sector.
