About Beacon projects

Beacon Projects are part of the University of Kent’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Beacon Projects illustrate some of the University of Kent’s distinctive strengths and provide a platform for future activities and aspirations.

Twelve projects were selected from bids across the university, with a focus on improving the student experience, strengthening our research efforts and extending our international ambitions.

All started within the anniversary year and will reach formal completion by the end of the summer term 2016. But all are also intended to leave a legacy.

Some may deliver a physical legacy; some an intellectual legacy; some will help to build our reputation; some may simply help scope and define our aspirations.

Many members of the university, academics and professional staff, have been involved in developing Beacon Projects. They have shown commitment, energy and enthusiasm.
