Our REF performance
The School of Arts and the School of Music and Fine Art made the largest submission to UOA 35, submitting a total of 41 members of staff, working across Drama and Theatre, Film, History and Philosophy of Art, Music and Fine Art.
From a total of 84 submissions, we ranked 1st in the UK for Research Power.
39% of our submitted research activity achieved the highest possible REF classification of 4*, defined as world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour. A further 44% is classified as 3*, defined as internationally excellent.
Our research environment was ranked 4th from a total of 84 submissions, and praised by the panel as 'strong and dynamic,' with 90% of our environment submission rated as 4* (conducive to world-leading research).
Our overall GPA (grade point average) is 3.2, a result which places the School of Arts in the top quartile of all submissions to UOA 35.
