The School of Arts at Kent offers a range of academically challenging programmes for those who want to study the arts at undergraduate or postgraduate level. The School has a global reputation for its dynamism and innovation in teaching and research, which is reflected in the distinctiveness of our programmes as well the quality and impact of staff research. Based on the picturesque Canterbury campus, we offer a wide variety of programmes in Drama, Film, History of Art and Media Studies.
Our single honours programmes provide a professional-practice focus alongside theoretical groundwork. We also offer a wide range of joint honours programmes, giving you the opportunity to combine your arts degree with another subject. There are also options to spend a year abroad or on placement, subject to good academic progression. We encourage tailoring your degree programme to suit to your interests and ambitions. Our students also have access to state-of-the-art facilities housed in our award winning Jarman building.
Our programmes contain a strong emphasis on employability within the curriculum and help students to develop the creative competence to succeed in a future career in specific arts professions as well as the wider creative industries. The modules available on our programmes cover a range of professional practices as well as the opportunity to develop transferable skills.
