Postgraduate work and roles

The role of Postgraduate Ambassador is extremely varied and provides a number of opportunities for postgraduate students to work within the Partner School Programme at the University of Kent. Using your skills, knowledge and expertise, you will have the chance to develop and deliver sessions based around your subject area, or you may choose to offer more general support, advice and guidance to potential HE students. The work can include one-off sessions through to projects delivered over a series of weeks and you may teach in a wide range of environments, from local schools through to community group settings.

As a Postgraduate Ambassador, you will work closely with your academic school and relevant Subject Specialist. You may also work directly with the Partnership Development Office (who co-ordinate a significant amount of outreach work with Partner Schools and Colleges).

The role will provide you with opportunities to develop your skills in teaching, public speaking, project development and delivery. You will also work with different organisations and individuals (from primary school children to colleagues across the University).

As a Postgraduate Ambassador, you could undertake work in one or all of the following roles:

Academic Ambassador

The Academic Ambassador role provides an exciting opportunity for University of Kent postgraduate students to work on a range of paid projects for their academic school.  This role involves developing and delivering subject specific sessions to school, college and/or community groups both on and off campus.

Academic Support Ambassador

The Academic Support Ambassador will develop subject-specific sessions which they are normally required to deliver through sustained modular activity, either on a one-to-one or small group basis.  These sessions usually take place in a school/college in the Kent or Medway area.
