Carolyn joined easyJet as Chief Executive in July 2010. Previously, she worked at The Guardian, where she started her career in 1986. After rising to become CEO of Guardian Newspapers Ltd (now Guardian News & Media Ltd), she became CEO of Guardian Media Group. Awarded the OBE for services to women in business in 2008, Carolyn was named ‘Woman of the Year’ at the Women 1st Shine Awards in 2012. In February 2013 she was listed as one of the 100 most powerful women in the UK by BBC Radio 4 programme Woman’s Hour.

Carolyn received an Honorary Degree from the University of Kent in 2009.

In 2016, Carolyn was decorated with France's highest merit, the Légion d'honneur; and was awarded a Damehood in the New Year's Honour List for services to the aviation industry.
