If your department requires a new domain, you must contact the Web team in the corporate communications office and request we purchase it on your behalf.
As domain names are considered part of the University's corporate branding,the Web team are responsible for purchasing and renewing all University domains, including those used by individual departments and any off-shoot companies and projects.
We also maintain a list of all the domains currently being used by the University and contact departments when their domains are up for renewal.
Purchasing a new domain
If you would like to purchase a new domain for your department please contact Corporate Communications stating the name of the domain you would like to purchase and what you intend to use the domain for.
The Web team will then contact you to discuss your request. If we can purchase your domain, we will provide you with details of the cost, how long you can buy the domain for, and how the domain will be set up for you. We will purchase the domain and invoice your department for reimbursement.
Renewing a domain
The Web team monitor when University domains are up for renewal. If you department's domain is about to expire, we will notify you in plenty of time, outlining your renewal options (for example, how long you can renew for and what it will cost). If you wish to renew your domain, we will do so on your behalf and invoice your department for reimbursement.
