LearnHigher
Background
The project is a HEFCE funded Centre of Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CETL) and is a collaboration between 16 universities, led by Liverpool Hope University . It draws on shared expertise of learner development and identifies specialist topic knowledge within the group. The project partners produce, identify and share resources with each other to ensure maximum spread of excellence as each practitioner has a different learner area specialism. This co-ordinated approach ensures that highest quality resources will reach the maximum number of students. In addition the network of practitioners creates a community of practice, which helps the development of a deeper scholarly approach as well as the capacity to extend knowledge in learner development. The collaborative steering group provides a rigorous quality review of the web-resources.
The project consortium comprises:
Liverpool Hope University, Bournemouth University, University of Brighton, Brunel University, University of Bradford, University of Kent, University of Leeds, University of Lincoln, University of Liverpool, London Metropolitan University, University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, Nottingham Trent University, University of Plymouth, University of Reading, and the University College Worcester.
Each of the partner institutions contribute to research driven, peer reviewed and evaluated resources in twenty learning areas which underpin activity across all academic subjects. These resources are being made available across the sector via the LearnHigher website at www.learnhigher.ac.uk.
The role of the University of Kent
The University of Kent is contributing to LearnHigher research in the field of Assessment in HE. The LearnHigher CETL gives us the opportunity to gather together current perceptions and practices of higher education assessment, to explore a range of assessment practices, examine how UK HEIs are interpreting the QAA precepts in their own assessment strategies, to review the literature on Assessment in HE and to highlight good practice in assessment.
