  • The Medway assessment group will be meeting at 10am, 1 November. More>>
  • Free workshops on deterring student plagiarism and ways of dealing with academic misconduct are available in November and December. Workshops are conducted online on Wednesdays at 3pm and are provided by N-Learning, the providers of Turnitin. Sign up here>>
  • The Association for Learning Development in HE is calling for papers for the ALDinHE Conference on 18, 19 and 20 April 2011 at Queen's University, Belfast. More>>
    • The theme for 2011 is "Engaging Students - Engaging Learning".
    • Keynote Speakers include Professor Sally Brown and Becka Currant, with a pre-conference workshop led by guest speaker, Phil Race.
    • Abstracts of 250 words should be submitted by Monday 13 December using the online proposal form.

  • The Assessment Tomorrow 2010 Conference on eAssessment will be held at the Grosvenor Hilton Hotel, Edinburgh 25 November 2010 with the support and principal sponsorship of SQA. More>>
    • Conference objectives:
      • Evaluate the tools and techniques required by the education, training and corporate sectors and identify which technologies can meet their needs and be fit for purpose and cost effective.
      • Raise the awareness of the importance of e-Assessment in all its forms from electronic testing to e-portfolio management and gaming for assessment.
      • Bring together the strategists, policy makers, practitioners and key decision makers at one event for an exchange of ideas and to review lessons learnt and opportunities available.
      • Provide a forum for developing the debate on the selection and use of e-Assessment.
      • Provide an opportunity to update education managers and teacher on the most recent developments.
      • Identify the role of e-Assessment within the development of effective e-learning programmes.
  • The Student Assessment and Classification Working Group annual seminar: 25 November will address the question 'What are the purposes and value of re-assessment ?' Issues include:
    • Rationale
    • Relationship to learning
    • Nature of tasks
    • Differences in regulations (number of resitopportunities,capping of marks, etc.)
    • Cost
    • Retention

  • 'Assessment for Learning: Making it Work', Cambridge Assessment Network, 26 November 2010, London. This event will focus on assessment for learning in school settings and will be held at the Hallam Conference Centre, 44 Hallam Street, London.
