Events
  • ‘The e-Assessment-Question 2011’ Conference and Exhibition, London will be held on 30 - 31 March 2011. This Conference and Exhibition examines the practical aspects of e-Assessment and Computer Based Testing and its use from the classroom to the workplace. More>>
    • The main theme for 2011 will be ‘Assessment of learning, assessment for learning, assessment is learning’ with a keynote address from Chris Jones Director-General City and Guilds.
    • A sub-theme looking at mobile assessment. This will culminate in a workshop (day two, pm) which will focus on using your mobile, pda, laptop, iphone, ipad, kindle etc. to access formative assessments, including a hands-on session led by Stuart Jones of Abel Consulting.
    • The Exhibition includes suppliers in the field of e-Assessment and the opportunity to meet and network with those selecting, developing and implementing e-Assessment in all its broad forms from the classroom to the workplace.
    • Booking may be made for either or both days of the event.
  • The Association for Learning Development in HE is taking bookings for the ALDinHE Conference on 18, 19 and 20 April 2011 at Queen's University, Belfast. More>>
    • The theme for 2011 is "Engaging Students - Engaging Learning".
    • Keynote Speakers include Professor Sally Brown and Becka Currant, with a pre-conference workshop led by guest speaker, Phil Race.
  • Call for papers: The University of Salford’s 6th Education in a Changing Environment Conference: Creativity and Engagement in Higher Education 6th - 8th July 2011, Salford, Manchester. Call for papers deadline is 14 January 2011
    • This conference will explore and discuss international best practice in teaching and educational research in higher education and identify creative models for engagement in a shifting educational landscape. The themes include:

      • Learning, Teaching and Assessment

  • Call for papers: The Third Assessment in Higher Education Conference will be held on 6 July 2011 at the University of Cumbria, Carlisle.
    • Papers to be submitted by 28 February 2011 on the following themes:
      • Assessment design
      • Marking and academic standards
      • Involving students in assessment & feedback
      • Assessment for learning
      • Assessment technologies
    • This conference is a partnership between the University of Cumbria Study of Higher Education Network, the Northumbria University Centre for Excellence in Assessment for Learning and the British Educational Research Association Higher Education SIG.

  • Call for Papers: Internationalisation of Pedagogy and Curriculum in Higher Education: Exploring New Frontiers. University of Warwick on 16-17 June 2011. Deadline for abstract submissions is the 17 January 2011.
    • This conference is hosted by the HEA/UKCISA Teaching International Students (TIS) project in partnership with the Centre for Academic Practice and Research in Internationalisation (CAPRI), and the Centre for Internationalised Curriculum and Networking (CICIN)

  • SEDA Research and Evaluation Small Grants 2011 bids now open. Deadline 14 January 2011. More>>
    • Amounts available: £500 for individual projects; up to £1000 for proposals with one or more partners from other institutions
    • Grants support research and evaluation in staff and educational development with the goal of continued improvement in the quality and understanding of educational development practices.
