University networks
These provide a forum for colleagues with similar interests to keep up-to-date, share experiences and contribute to the development of policy and practice. Current networks:
QME Network. Directors of Learning and Teaching, and others with an interest in the development of University policy and practice in relation to learning and teaching, meet termly. Most meetings involve a colleague presenting new T&L developments in their own discipline or area of practice.
PGCHE Mentors Colleagues responsible for mentoring PGCHE and ATAP participants within departments meet termly to discuss their role and learn from each other.
Academic Practice Forum
A programme of events, run weekly on Thursday lunchtimes and open to all staff. Events in 2007/08 include practical teaching-related sessions, briefing sessions (for example on promotion), visiting speakers and a reading group. Click here for full details.
Discipline-oriented support
Members of the Academic Practice are also able to advise on the range of external funding available to support the development and recognition of teaching, for example through the Higher Education Academy Subject Centres, and to offer tailored support for departments in developing teaching.
