Tizard Practitioners' Network
The Tizard Practitioners Network is a group of graduates from Tizard programmes such as the MSc in Analysis and Intervention in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, the Diploma of Applied Psychology of Learning Disability (Challenging Behaviour), the MA in the Management of Community Care and the BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. They meet approximately 4 times a year at the Tizard Centre, usually on the same day as the Tizard Research Seminars. The meetings allow opportunity to hear about new ideas/research, talk about service issues, make contacts for networking, and think about service developments/putting research into practice. There are obviously social benefits as well.
Although initially the Network covered people working in the South East of England, the membership is now extended to all other graduates of the Tizard centre - it is recognised that people from further afield may not wish to travel to meetings but may wish to use the on-line discussion facility and directory of Practitioners.
