Great North Run success

Kate O'Brien and Garham WarrenCongratulations to Dr Kate O’Brien (SSPSSR) on completing the Great North Run on Sunday (16 September).

Kate, a lecturer in Criminology, finished the run in two hours, 31 minutes. She has raised £720, mostly donated by other staff in SSPSSR, to be divided equally between the Brain Tumour charity and the RNLI.

Kate said afterwards: ‘It was a great day and even the rain didn’t dampen my spirits. I loved the Geordie hospitality - near the end of the run, two lovely elderly ladies were offering runners home-made sausage rolls. It wasn’t the ideal on-the-run fuel, but a wonderful gesture!’

Update: Kate has raised £760 so far, but donations can still be made and will be gratefully received. Donations can be made online at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/KateOBrien1
