University's Brussels campus shortlisted for top export award

The University's Brussels School of International Studies (BSIS) has been shortlisted for a top export award by the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium.

A judging panel will consider presentations from those shortlisted in Belgium for the Golden Bridge Award early next month, with the winners announced at a ceremony in London on 15 November. Golden Bridge Awards recognise the export successes of organisations operating in overseas markets.

Alastair Ross, Head of Administration at BSIS, said: ‘This is excellent news. As a higher education provider, the University of Kent is a non-conventional applicant for this award.

‘However, we have had considerable success in exporting UK education to Belgium by encouraging international students to come and study with us in Brussels as well as establishing a vibrant centre for research excellence in international relations, law and economics.

'We were also the first UK institution to be recognised officially within the Flemish Community.'

BSIS, which was established in 1998, currently has 220 students as well as more than 40 full and part-time academic and administrative staff.
