Centre for BioMedical Informatics

The Centre for BioMedical Informatics was established in Jan 2006. It is a virtual Centre that aims to foster collaborative research and postgraduate teaching in the broad area of Biomedical Informatics.

The Centre builds on a thriving culture of collaboration between all Schools in the Faculty of Sciences, having committee representation from each.

Thematic Research in the Centre:

  1. Modelling biological process in normal life and disease
  2. Imaging of biological and disease processes
  3. Knowledge-discovery in sequence and other biological databases

These themes provide the structure for the major regular activities of the CBMI which are seminar series that take place each term, an annual symposium and postgraduate teaching by MSc.

The CBMI represents the only cross-Faculty activity of its kind in the Sciences Faculty and is the only forum where academics from all the Faculty Schools can meet regularly in the context of research collaboration.

Please contact Joanna Walpole J.L.Walpole@kent.ac.uk tel 7833 for information about the CBMI which does not appear here.
