The Centre for BioMedical Informatics was established in Jan 2006. After five successful years, the Centre achieved it thematic research aims of cross-Faculty collaborative research.

In 2012, the Centre for Computational Biology under the leadership of Professor Darren Griffin evolved from the former CBMI.
