Dodgeball

January 2011

The first event of the 2011 competition was the dodgeball. It was very competitive and at times a little dangerous! Lessons were learnt about the competitiveness of teams and refereeing the games but most people enjoyed their first taste of the VC's Cup and it was great to see the halls packed with staff both playing and watching.

Congratulations to Wii not Fit from Human Resources and The Psychos from Psychology joint winners of this event.

Racket sports

April 2011

Racket sports included Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash & Tennis played over one week with beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. There was some discrepancies over playing levels so next year may see some form of handicap system, but the events were well supported and had a great atmosphere. The Racket Sports was eventually won by IS All Stars from Information Services.

School Sports Day

June 2011

This event gave everyone the chance to relive those school sports days with events including Egg & Spoon race, Sack race, 3 legged race, Standing Jump and Welly Throwing. The good weather brought everyone out including the less sporty. School sports day was won by The Tax Dodgers from The Finance Department

Rounders

July 2011

Rounders made a comeback as teams of 8 played in a round robin tournament. The sportsmanship improved as everyone learnt the rules and umpiring improved. A good time was had by all, except maybe Julia from APS who after much persuasion by her team captain to play pulled a muscle and limped off after her first hit of the ball!

The event was won by the K team.

Bat & Trap

August 2011

This traditional pub game saw teams of two playing a round robin tournament with Campus Cops from Campus Watch coming out on top.

Pub Quiz

September 2011

Teams of 8 entered into the quiz held at the Pavilion's Vista Vista Restaurant with food provided by Kent Sport.

The evening hosted by Mel Clewlow saw InterDev United from the International and Development Office storm to victory with a score of 96/100.

Kent Sport were put to shame as they realised their weaknesses!

Netball

October 2011

Netball was the final event and some teams had difficulty finding enough players but everyone chipped in to help the other teams.

The K team, with several 6 feet tall players, were hard to beat eventually coming out on top and becoming overall winners.
