As part of Kent Sport's Olympic legacy programme, the University and Kent Sport are investing over £4.8 million in a major redevelopment of the sporting facilities on the Canterbury campus.

Great News
The new dance studio and extension to the fitness suite including the rehabilitation and high performance areas open on Tuesday 7 May 2013.
The new Cardio and Resistance Suite is open and includes the latest hi-tech running machines, x-trainers, rowers and spinning bikes with HD screens featuring, TV, iPod docks and on-screen professional coach for personalised workouts. Resistance equipment including bench, leg and chest press with lock ‘n’ load weight selection are also available.
A significantly enhanced fitness suite
Featuring three distinct areas for general fitness, rehabilitation and high performance training. To include double the amount of brand new CV equipment and a greater range of free weights and lifting platforms. The Cardio & Resistance Suite opened in January 2013 and the rehabilitation and high performance areas open at the start of the summer term.
Third multi-purpose sports hall

Offering more leisure courts and student club space.
Larger dance studio

The new studio can be split into two for smaller, more intimate classes with enhanced lighting and sound, offering more classes including Spinning, Booxercise and Balanced Bodies.
Indoor tennis/netball courts

The surface of the indoor and outdoor tennis centre at the Pavilion have been colour sprayed and the courts are now available. The centre includes three indoor courts for tennis and netball as well as three refurbished outdoor courts.
Physiotherapy clinic
Linked to the new training facilities, the physiotherapy clinic will provide a seamless pathway from acute injury to full fitness.
Kiosk and online bookings
Coming in 2013, members will be able to book activities online up to 7 days in advance and avoid queues by using self-service kiosks.

Contractors are on site
Contractors are completing the facilities upgrade through to 5 May 2013.
* There will be some limitations on facilities throughout the build, but please be assured that we are working closely with the contractor to keep these to an absolute minimum. Your support is appreciated.
Updates
The new Dance Studio and Rehabilitation & High Performance areas of the Fitness Suite will open Tuesday 7 May 2013
The NEW Indoor tennis centre is now open. Bookings can be made at the Sports Centre or Pavilion receptions.
The car park at the rear of the Sports Centre is closed until further notice
The third sports hall will be available for use after exams.
Information
The new Dance studio opens Tuesday 7 May 2013. There will be no classes until the opening of the new dance studio while the final touches are added to this area.
The free weights will remain in the squash courts until the new Rehabilitation and High Performance areas open at the beginning of the summer term.
Punch bags can be booked for use in a squash court.
