Interests: Economic capital and financial risk management; Genetics and insurance and Haplotyping analysis via genetic algorithm.
Career History:
I joined the Actuarial Department at University of Kent in December 2006. I have worked in the life insurance industry for more than 5 years. My business exposure includes product development, pricing, valuation, financial reporting and business planning experience with HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company, a joint venture life insurance firm between Standard Life and HDFC, based in Mumbai, India. I have similar UK experience gained with Standard Life in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have also carried out research at the Genetics and Insurance Research Centre at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Other:
I am a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland and I qualified in 2002. I am also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India. I have completed my PhD on “The Impact of Multifactorial Genetic Disorders on Long-Term Insurance” from Heriot-Watt University. I have a degree, and a postgraduate degree, in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India and also a post graduate diploma in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University.
