Pure Mathematics

Welcome to Pure Mathematics

Our research is based around algebra, with interests in representation theory and invariant theory of finite groups, non-commutative algebra, algebraic geometry, computational algebra and combinatorics. In turn, this informs much of our teaching.

The Pure Mathematics group includes one professor, one reader, two senior lecturers, and four lecturers. There are also two research associates and several graduate students.

We collaborate with mathematicians at many other institutions worldwide including TU Munich, Essen, Köln, FU Berlin, Udine, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Queen's University (Canada), the Royal Military College of Canada, the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Warwick and Oxford.
