These scholarships are for a part-time MSc in Mathematics by Research, in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Kent. The School is located at the Canterbury campus.
The successful candidate is expected to have at least a 2(i) BSc in Mathematics or MPhys from a UK institution or equivalent, and a desire to deepen their mathematical understanding and develop their mathematical abilities.
Applicants should indicate their preferred area of Mathematics in which they wish to study, which should align broadly with the research interests of a member of the Pure or Applied Mathematics groups.
The MSc by research (part-time) is a two year program.
Students meet regularly with their main supervisor, and attend seminars and discussion groups.
Examination is by thesis which must show the ability to conduct an independent study and to understand its relationship to a wider field of knowledge.
Training in mathematical software, both computational and word processing, is provided, as well as in technical presentation.

These scholarships are not available for study in Actuarial Science.
