Frequently asked questions

What is a partner school?

The University has 18 partner schools across the county. The aim of these formal partnerships is to give students in these schools a better understanding of the benefits of higher education and to encourage progression. This is done through the development and delivery of a wide range of modules and activities taught in school by university staff.

Who are the University’s partner schools?

What are the benefits of being a student at a partner school?

A wide range of activities and modules are offered to partner schools. These are set out in our Partner Schools’ Curriculum prospectus.

Students attending a partner school who also apply for a full-time degree course at Kent are eligible to apply for a partner scholarship.

I am interested in an activity in the partner school prospectus but it isn’t offered at my school. What should I do?

Members of staff at each school choose which activities are most appropriate for their students. You should, however, tell your teachers if you are interested in any other activities. If there is a group of students who share your interest we may be able to organise that activity at your school. If only a small number of students at your school is interested in an activity we may be able to arrange collaboration with another local partner school.

I have applied for a course at Kent but have been rejected/have been made an offer on another course. Why is this?

Offers are made on an individual basis in response to the information on your UCAS form. We do, however, try to give personal attention to applications from partner schools. If you are a partner school student and you would like to talk about your application to Kent please e-mail outreach@kent.ac.uk

I haven’t achieved the grades I need to accept my offer from Kent. Is there anything I can do?

The academic department to which you have applied may still accept you on the programme. They will make a decision based on your examination results, your original application and references from people who have taught you. If you would like to talk to someone about this you can telephone 01227 824905 and a member of the partner schools’ team will discuss your options with you.

How much will it cost to go to university and what financial assistance is available?

You will find information about fees, grants and loans on the University website .

Partner School students can also apply for a Partner Scholarship and other University of Kent scholarships

Who can I contact for more information?

The partner schools’ team can be contacted at outreach@kent.ac.uk or on 01227 824751.
