Biosciences

The University of Kent's Biosciences department runs a range of activities and talks for junior and secondary school students, and are actively developing projects and demonstrations to take out to local schools, science festivals, or for students to participate in on campus.

Delivered on campus are DNA Fingerprinting Days where students come into the teaching laboratory for practical exercises in small groups with academic or research staff.

Also on campus, sessions are available exploring use of the department's electron microscope facilities and software which looks at human chromosomes.

For delivering in schools the department has dedicated resources to promote NanoScience, female participation in science and academic staff regularly visit schools and colleges to present talks for year 12 or 13 students.
