Guardian University Guide 2013: 9th in the UK for Modern Languages and Linguistics

By learning Italian, you provide yourself with the best possible instrument to explore this cultural richness that Italy has to offer and to open your eyes to the Roman heritage, the Renaissance and to modern architecture, fashion and car design. Spoken not only in its home country, but also in Switzerland and by more than fifteen million Italians in North America and Australia, it is a hugely popular language all over the world. Italian at Kent offers a range of undergraduate single and joint honours programmes which allow students to study at beginner, Intermediate (post-GCSE) or advanced level (post-A level). The programmes also offer opportunities to study and work abroad, a wide selection of modules (from politics to literature) and state-of-the-art language facilities. Our postgraduate programmes at both our Canterbury and Paris centres offer more specialist study supported by academics with track records in world-leading research.

Did you know that the week from 17 to 22 October 2012 is the Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo? For this occasion our lettrice ministeriale Anna Maria Giuffrida, with the support of the Italian department, is organising a photographic contest, with the chance to win several bursaries to study Italian abroad and a one man show by Marco Gambino on the Mafia. Don't miss them!

Reminder: tomorrow, 21 May, Edith Grossman will give her talk "Why Translation Matters" in DLT1 at 3pm, followed by a drinks reception.
