Gina is in her second year of post-graduate research, studying for a PhD. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kent in 2009 (graduating with First Class Hons.)
Research Interests: Greek comedy and tragedy Greek and Roman myth The politics, culture and society of Ancient Greece and Rome Roman Satire
Subject of Research: The intertextuality in Aristophanes
Existing scholarship explores the relationship between Aristophanes and other playwrights. My research will provide an extra dimension by focusing primarily on the reciprocal intertextuality of Aristophanes and Euripides. By the close examination and comparison of their work, I intend to establish a link between Greek Comedy and Tragedy and show the dialogue between the two genres in terms of both style and the manipulation of myth. The second part of my research will show reciprocity of influence.
Research Supervisors: Professor Ray Laurence (chair), Dr A P Alwis and Dr Arthur Keavney
