Summary of Costs

Total costs for those who stay on campus for the full five days from Sunday 13 June until Friday 18 June range from:

  • £285.00 - a student or early booker, who stays in a self-catering house - this is the cheapest option and would leave you needing to provide your own dinner and breakfast

  • £312.50 - a student or early booker who stays in a standard room - this would leave you needing to provide dinner only

  • £325.00 - a non-student late booker who stays in a self-catering house - this would leave you needing to provide your own dinner and breakfast

  • £342.50 - a student or early booker who stays in en-suite accommodation - this would leave you needing to provide dinner only

  • £352.50 - a non-student late booker who stays in a standard room - this would leave you needing to provide dinner only

  • £382.50 - a non-student late booker who stays in en-suite accommodation - this is the most expensive option, and again would leave you needing to provide your own dinner.

Please note that the above is only a guide to total costs, based upon the specific registration and accommodation costs detailed below. Both the accommodation and conference can be booked on a daily basis.

Details of Costs - Registration

Registration fees for all delegates will include:

a) attendance at:

  • the opening ceremony and welcome reception
  • plenary lectures and panels
  • spoken and poster sessions
  • discussion groups
  • evening social events (except the gala dinner which is extra)

b) during the four days of the meeting:

The cost will be £25.

Details of Costs - Accommodation

The campus has a limited number of en-suite twin rooms and a larger but still limited number of en-suite single rooms, that will be booked on a first-come, first-served, basis. Most on-campus accommodation will be in standard single rooms with bathroom and lavatory facilities shared between up to seven rooms. The costs of accommodation include a full English breakfast. (For those of you unfamiliar with this aspect of English life, this can be a very substantial meal, though eating it all is not compulsory!)

Standard Single Rooms £16.50 per night
En-Suite Single Rooms £22.50 per night
En-Suite Twin Rooms
(based on 2 sharing)
£45.00 per night

The campus can also offer accommodation in 5-bedroom self-catering houses, where breakfast is not included. (These houses have five bedrooms plus a shared bathroom and kitchen/diner.)

Individual Self-catered Rooms
(based on 5 sharing)
£11.00 per person per night
Complete 5 Bed Unit £55.00 per night

Further details about campus accommodation can be found at http://www.kent.ac.uk/hospitality/holiday/accommodation.html.

You can, of course, stay in Canterbury itself if you wish, rather than the campus. (Details of accommodation in Canterbury on http://www.canterbury.co.uk/cgi-bin/accommodation.cgi.) Please note however that a) you will not find any accommodation in the city cheaper than that on campus, and b) the campus is a 20-25 minute (uphill!) walk from the city centre.

Meals

Most delegates will have breakfast provided with their accommodation, and all delegates will have lunch provided with their registration. Dinner will be left optional for delegates to choose where to eat, either at the various outlets on campus, or off campus.
