University of Kent ranked 24th for its world-leading research

The University of Kent today warmly welcomed the news that a great deal of its research has been ranked as world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour (4*), according to the Government’s 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

The University is placed 24th out of 118 participating institutions in terms of the best, or 4*, research.

Both The Guardian and The Times newspapers rank Kent 29th, with the Independent online rating the University 28th for its overall research activity. In what has been the University’s best ever RAE performance, five subject areas have had 30% of their research rated 4*.
