back to topGood career prospects
Psychology is an interdisciplinary subject - drawing on sciences and humanities - and this puts graduates in a strong position when looking for employment.
- Graduating with a second or first class honours degree means that you are eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society and also provides the first step to becoming a Chartered Psychologist.
- The joint honours degree Psychology and Law is recognised by the English Law Society and Bar as a qualifying degree.
- If you take an Applied Psychology programme, you have the opportunity to spend a year working with professional psychologists. This can enhance your job prospects by giving you insight into the use of psychology in applied settings.
These days employers are looking for a range of key skills, and in addition to mastering your subject area we encourage you to develop these. Our graduates become highly literate and numerate and skilled in using a range of IT.
Kent's psychology graduates do well in a wide range of careers:
- some have gone on to qualify as Occupational, Clinical or Health Psychologists
- others have found careers in related subjects such as therapy, teaching, and social work,
- others have gone into professions where communications skills are important, such as public relations, marketing, publishing, or media work.
